Seven Garden City High School musicians named NYSSMA All-State alternates

Garden City Public Schools is proud to announce that seven Garden City High School students have been named alternates for the prestigious 2026 NYSSMA All-State Performing Ensembles. This distinction recognizes their musical achievement through a highly competitive statewide audition process. This year’s All-State ensembles will perform during the NYSSMA Winter Conference, taking place Dec. 3-6 in Rochester.
Congratulations to the following students on this outstanding accomplishment:
- Azra Zirhli, cello alternate
- Dylan Guan. cello alternate
- Hyunseo Park, flute alternate
- Mason Chan, flute alternate
- Mina DiLoreto, jazz soprano alternate
- Ryan Schmidt, jazz trumpet alternate
- Sofia DiLoreto, timpani alternate
Thousands of students across New York State auditioned last spring for All-State consideration, making alternate recognition a significant accomplishment for these Garden City musicians. Special thanks go to their ensemble teachers — Andrew Albani, Daniel DellaMonica, Alexandra Frazzetto, Stephen Mayo and Danielle DeMarco — for their dedication and guidance in preparing students for their auditions.
“Being named an All-State alternate is an accomplishment that reflects our students’ musical talent, dedication and countless hours of preparation,” said Coordinator of Music and the Arts Ms. Akira Regan. “We are proud of their commitment not only to their own musical growth, but also to the growth of our school ensembles.”
The district congratulates these students and their teachers on this well-earned recognition and looks forward to celebrating their continued growth and achievements.
