Garden City High School has earned 2025-2026 School of Excellence recognition from the New York State Public High School Athletic Association, which honors the academic accomplishments of its varsity student-athletes. 

The award is based on the academic performance of a school’s varsity teams. Schools qualify when at least 75% of their varsity teams earn the NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete Team Award, which requires the top 75% of a team’s roster to maintain an average grade point average of at least 90%. Across New York State, 327 schools, including 40 on Long Island, earned School of Excellence recognition for the 25-26 school year.

The achievement highlights the commitment of Garden City student-athletes to maintaining strong academic performance while competing at the varsity level, with continued support from their coaches, teachers, administrators and families.
