Garden City celebrates International Dot Day

On Sept. 15, Garden City Public Schools continued its special tradition of celebrating International Dot Day. Inspired by Peter H. Reynolds’s beloved book “The Dot,” the day encourages students to have the courage to begin, express their creativity and discover the many ways they can make their mark.
Throughout the district, students explored this message through reading, writing, art, music and classroom activities. They created colorful dots, shared their ideas and reflected on what it means to believe in themselves and make a difference.
International Dot Day is another meaningful way the district is cultivating a culture of reading across Garden City while bringing literacy and the arts together. The celebration also reinforces a message the district hopes students carry with them throughout the year: Be courageous. Be creative. Make your mark.
