Garden City alumni inducted into the Garden City Athletic Hall of Fame

On June 15, Garden City High School alumni Ella Heaney and Brett Stewart were inducted into the Garden City Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of their exceptional accomplishments and contributions to Trojan athletics.
Heaney, a member of the Garden City High School Class of 2019, was one of the most accomplished two-sport athletes in Trojan history. A four-year varsity athlete in both field hockey and lacrosse, she earned numerous accolades while helping lead her teams to multiple New York State championships. In field hockey, she was a senior captain, two-time All-County selection, All-State honoree and a key contributor to the Trojans’ 2018 New York State Class B championship team. In lacrosse, she earned All-County and Honorable Mention All-American honors while helping Garden City capture state titles in 2016 and 2017. Heaney went on to compete in Division I lacrosse at the University of Southern California.
Stewart, a member of the Garden City High School Class of 2012, is regarded as one of the most accomplished athletes in the history of Trojan football. As quarterback, he led the Trojans to the 2012 Long Island Championship and earned numerous honors, including two All-County selections, two All-Long Island selections, All-State recognition and a spot on the National Football Foundation Golden Eleven Team. Brett still holds several school records, including career passing yards, passing touchdowns and all-purpose yards. Following his standout high school career, he completed a postgraduate year at Deerfield Academy before continuing his academic and athletic career at Princeton University, where he contributed to multiple Ivy League championship teams.
Congratulations to Heaney and Stewart on these well-deserved recognitions. Their accomplishments, leadership and dedication have left a lasting impact on Garden City Athletics and continue to inspire the Trojan community.
