On Nov. 15, Garden City Schools hosted 10 educators from Iceland who were in the country attending Iceland's largest education conference, UTIS, which was held in Manhattan. They visited the middle school and Stratford School and during their stay, they visited several classrooms and toured the buildings to learn more about the Garden City educational system and district initiatives.
They were excited about the Innovation Spaces, namely the lab at Stratford and the middle school library and makerspaces where they were able to see students in action.
Orchestra students from the middle school learned the Icelandic national anthem, which was recorded and shared with the educators. Finally, one middle school student interviewed some of the teachers for the middle school daily news broadcast. It was a fantastic learning experience for all involved.
