Stewart Fourth Graders Participate in Acting Workshops With the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players

Fourth grade students at Stewart School recently had the unique opportunity to dive into the world of operetta through a special residency with the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players. Over the course of three days, students studied “The Pirates of Penzance,” exploring its libretto, characters, plot and vocabulary through engaging acting workshops. They rehearsed scenes, brought characters to life and developed a deeper appreciation for the humor and musicality of Gilbert and Sullivan’s work.

On the third day of the residency, students saw a live performance of “The Pirates of Penzance” with professionals from the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players.

The district would like to thank the Garden City Friends of Music for supporting the residency and helping to provide accommodations for the visiting performers. Thank you also to the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players for a week filled with artistry, creativity and inspiring musicianship.
