On Friday, Oct. 10, students from Garden City High School’s Theater Arts program attended Adelphi University’s “A Day in the Arts.” Mrs. McLaughlin, Garden City High School’s theater arts teacher, and Mrs. Frazzetto, director of the fall play, accompanied the students to the event, where they received hands-on experience and insight into theater beyond high school.
The students learned from professionals, professors and clinicians, who led clinics including Broadway Song Coaching, College Audition Preparation, Stage Combat, and Theater Makeup. Actress and singer Natalie Joy Johnson, known for her role as Enid Hoopes in Broadway’s “Legally Blonde,” performed for the students and answered questions they had about working in the industry.
The students left Adelphi with a further passion for creativity, teamwork and the arts, allowing them to grow not only as actors, but also as individuals.
