The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the names of more than 15,000 finalists in the 69th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. The district is pleased to announce that 10 Garden City High School seniors are among them. They are: Julia Cherchever, Owen T. Conway, Ryan M. Lawson, Tyler E. McAlea, Tara O. Murphy, James R. Nagler, Armeen Panthaki, Emma G. Rathgeber, Laila Smith and Elaine Wang. The finalists were chosen from more than 16,000 semifinalists nationwide.
“I am extremely proud of the dedication and excellence demonstrated by all our seniors who have been named National Merit Scholarship finalists,” Garden City High School Principal Kevin Steingruebner said. “This recognition highlights their relentless efforts and unwavering commitment to success.”
The finalists will compete for 7,140 National Merit Scholarships totaling almost $28 million. Winners will be announced in the spring.
